Family talks about son who drowned in Rockcastle River
In a couple of weeks the family of Jesse Pratt was going to celebrate his birthday. In stead, Tuesday, they went to the funeral home to plan his final services. But they hope by getting out the word of their son’s death, they will prevent another family from going through a similar tragedy.
“He just loved life, you know,” said Jimmy Pratt, Jesse’s father.
Only 16 and it would see this young man had a long life ahead of him.
“He is supposed to be putting me away, not me him,” said Pratt.
Yet Jesse Lee Pratt’s young life ended Monday night while swimming in the Rockcastle River with friends.
“They were all playing around and having a good time, next thing we know he didn’t see Jess. So he went in after him and tried his best,” said Pratt.
The teenager apparently drowned but an autopsy was being performed on his body in Frankfort. The area where the accident happened is known as the Bee Rock Campground and his family questions if others should swim there.
“I think they could post it better cause I know people swim in it every day. It’s not posted real well,” said Pratt.
“He is not he first the drown there, he may not be the last. Maybe it will save someone else’s child,” said Tammy Pratt, Jesse’s mother.
