Are they saying why gas is going up again then???
Even a broken clock is right twice a day
Re: Crude drops nearly 4% in late day trading !
Seems like gas goes up and down everyday for no reason lately. I think some of the retailers are just trying to make more $.

They don't have to, it's a matter of greed. The station owners do as they please, and there is nothing we can do about it.katie wrote:Are they saying why gas is going up again then???

Remember. It is a long Pipeline to the station you buy from

Actually, the higher the price the smaller the profit for the retailer. I know it sounds crazy, but it's true. (ten years as a retailer) I made a larger margin when the price was under $2 then when it was over $3. I've been out of the business for three years, but will be back in this Jan., so I'll keep you informed.Hacman wrote:Seems like gas goes up and down everyday for no reason lately. THanks for the perspective JLA, I'm sure you know by admitting that you might get a little unwarranted coal raking later though.. LOL Just stick around anyway...

About time oil drops. I mean they have been rapping us for how long and finally the world said they have had enough. Now they have to find ways to drive prices up by slowing production to make their investors happy and show the same profits they have gotten used to seeing.

Very true. As a Construction Project Manager I saw it all the time. One building cost 1.7 million, one was 11 million and another was 33 million dollars. Higher profit margin on the 1.7M and each building made about the same amount of profit.JLA wrote:Actually, the higher the price the smaller the profit for the retailer. Let me clear up something, I WAS a retailer/owner of a store, now I'm going to work for one of those stores. So now I can feed you information, but have no say in anything. I like it better that way! So bring on the questions and leave the rakes at home!E_HILLMAN wrote:THanks for the perspective JLA, I'm sure you know by admitting that you might get a little unwarranted coal raking later though.. Don't worry I don't scare very easily, so I'll stick around.

JLA is correct, stations have more % of profit with gas at 1.60 than they did at 4.00

He went somewhere where people did not give him grief for posting news reports etc. I sure miss his posts.

Wherever he went, there must be separate news/stock sections where he could post to his hearts content. I'm happy for him.
