Drowning at Jamestown Marina today
Word is that a teenager boy drowned at Jamestown Marina this morning after stepping off a jon boat onto a dock, slipping and hitting his head. Making a mis-step while stepping off a boat caused me to fall and go under while I had my houseboat on Norris Lake about 6 yrs ago. ..luckily I only had a cracked elbow and hematoma on my leg.....another reminder to wear your lifejacket until on dryland..as uncomfotable as it seems. So sad for the family. I don't know his name, but evidently the family regularly boats on LC.

So sorry to hear this San... However if any good can come from it hopefully others will take heed of what you have said.

This is very sad but he was probably doing something he'd done many times before. It just reinforces how important it is to think about safety ALL the time. Thoughts and prayers certainly go out to the family.....

My thoughts exactly. How fast a great day can turn bad. He was only 17. Very tragic!
