WMC-TV in Memphis is reporting that Memphis coach John Calipari will accept an offer from Kentucky to become the men's basketball coach for the Wildcats barring any breakdown in negotiations, and will take his coaching staff with him and a number of players.
WMC broke into regular programming with a report from their sports director, Jarvis Greer, who said he has learned from a reliable source that Calipari will be the next coach at UK and that two Memphis players, Wesley Witherspoon and Robert Sallie, will transfer to Kentucky.
LEX 18 will have more on this developing story today beginning at 5.

Re: New UK Coach
Regardless of who is picked, I think we should step back and take some time. Remember, it took ~2 months after Sutton before we got Pitino.

Re: New UK Coach
He sounds like a really good pick and is just as up and coming as Pitino... In fact with the UK backing he might do even better.
The only thing I know is along as whomever it is does better than Billy G we should leave them alone for 4 years.

Buy American, the job you save just might be your own.

Re: New UK Coach
I thought Calipari was going to take the job two years ago. I'd love to see either him or Izzo. You know, being Italian, I have to hope to keep it in the family.
A UK student we met in Jamaica a couple weeks ago said something funny
"First we had a great, innovative coach that won a bunch of games - Adolph Rupp
We hired his assistant and won a bunch more - Joe B. Hall
Then we got a drunk form the south - Eddie Sutton
Then we hire another great innovative coach and won a bunch again - Dicky Pitino
After him, we hire his assistant and win again - Tubby Smith
THEN WE GET A DRUNK FROM THE SOUTH"
I guess if it all comes full circle we'll get another great innovative coach that will bring us a bunch of wins.
