A Georgia woman who is the daughter of a Kentucky Lottery Corp. official has won $681,000 after purchasing a $20 scratch-off ticket from a gas station in Richmond, according to a press release from the lottery.
Kelli Godfrey, of Marietta, was visiting family in Richmond last week when she bought the "Lucky Millionaire" ticket at Jack's BP gas station.
Godfrey is the daughter of lottery corporation board member Ray DeSloover.
Lottery officials have told Godfrey that she is not prohibited from playing any Kentucky lottery games and that she is entitled to the payout because she does not "live in the same house" as DeSloover.
Chip Polston, lottery vice president of public relations, said Godfrey's winning ticket was reviewed under the same process used in other instances where large prizes will be awarded.
"These procedures were implemented to preserve the integrity and public's perception of a transaction such as this," he said in a press release.
Godfrey chose the cash option for the prize.
