Memorial Day weekend
Hmm, I'm starting to wonder about coming down this weekend.
http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/jamest ... her/333359
Right now it sure looks cold for overnighting on the water. The daytime high could sure be a little higher but then again as long as there is sunshine the 70s would feel good in the sun sitting and lounging. (I guess if I have to have problems decisions like this are good problems to have. lol ...thankful for these "problems".)

Been there, done that!
The sun part looks good!
I remember being down on Memorial Day Weekend and it was cloudy...rainy... and miserable! Like in the LOW 40s
each morning. NEVER saw the sun ALL weekend! Don't wanna do that again!

Re: Memorial Day weekend
Sooo glad I went down. WONDERFUL WEEKEND!
Here is where I spent 98% of it.
http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=36.89 ... sz=18&z=13
All was great except for trying to get home.
First on the ramp I am pulling the boat on the trailer and there is a crowd of about 5 or 6 people standing at the end of the doc. I slide onto the trailer as I normally do and all feels good and some woman claims I am not on the bow roller. I feel strongly she is wrong but I go ahead and back off a couple feet and go back forward. She says it is all good but can't help thinking to myself how it feels exactly like it did the first time. Then some guy comes running down to "help" (like I need it I have done this several times by myself with this boat. By that time Julie is trying to tell him I am fine and don't need help but he ignores her and starts telling me to come forward. (normally I just pull it up on the trailer and then hop off the back of the boat onto the dock and go around and hook the winch and crank it the rest of the way. But since he was there I push it up further. At this point I begin to realize this guy is not all with it and neither is the crowd. I can see people staggering etc. and Julie is looking very annoyed. One guy comes by and argues with me that the boat is not straight on the trailer but I look over the edge and it is perfect. He would not shut up so I moved it over and back with the drive. lol Finally I had enough of the "help" and just jumped off the boat came around winched the boat up and pulled forward so we could get Wally in the truck etc. As I went past everyone they were indeed struggling to stay upright. geez.
That was the only real hassle or annoyance of the weekend except for waiting for several minutes on 461 at a check point while they spent most of their time with a truck two cars in front of us. There were about 5 or 6 officers. Surely two could have handled the truck and others checked us. Oh well finally they let us on through and Avery could go back to sleep from the flashing blue lights beaming from everywhere.
But it was all still worth it, I don't think I have had a Memorial Day weekend with such clear skies (other than one rain shower Sunday morning that quickly passed and we were in the cabin anyway) Even got to spend some time with LC and crew. Wasn't too hot so you could actually sit around and enjoy the day without burning up but certainly wasn't cold or cool either.
Very thankful to be able to enjoy the weekend and thankful for being able to do it and thankful for those who fought to keep us free. Hope everyone else had a good one.

I've always said this and always will even if all I have is a Jon Boat and a Pup Tent and I'm not far from it.Fall Creek wrote:says the man with a house boat that has Air Conditioning, heat, and a roof over his headcrwky wrote:Weather always better at the lake.
