My 26 year old daughter posted this on her blog... She really put into words the way I feel... I just wonder where all the Bush haters will channel their hatred now that he's gone... Everyone have a safe day...
Remember that time, you elected him AMERICA?
I really am fine with Obama taking office today. I know that our nation is in God's hands, and always will be. Not in the hands of any particular leader. And I hope and pray that Obama will be led by God to make good decisions while he is our president. I really don't have any ill feelings for him whatsoever, and he is our president who I will respect.
What really gets to me is the lack of respect for George W. Bush. He served our country as president, elected by the people, for 8 years. And I love him. I will never forget getting to meet him in person when he was still the governor of Texas. He had recently announced that he was running for president the first time and my family ran into him and the state capitol and got to shake his hand. I didn't know then that I was meeting the future president of the United States, but what an awesome moment to look back on now. I guess I just don't understand his unpopularity to the extent that the media portrays it. People are so fickle and ignorant. What exactly did he do to deserve such disrespect? Stick to his morals and standards? Go to war when we were viciously attacked by terrorists? Lower our freaking taxes? Forgive me, but the state of the economy is the fault of greedy people and shady organizations...not GWB. My question for anyone who faults him to the point of hatred is...were you there? Were you behind the scenes when these important decisions were being made? No, of course not, so shut up. I guess my main lesson learned for myself is never to act like the ignorant people who bash him now. I will never treat any president with such disrespect. I may not agree with all the decisions that Barack Obama will make as president, but I will never slander his name or disrespect him like Bush haters have lately. It is childish and unpatriotic. So here's to hoping and praying for the best for our new president.

That is well said.
Personally I didn't like Bush too much and I am glad to move on, HOWEVER I still respect him for being president of this country for 8 years. You don't get to that position by being an idiot, regardless of what some may say! I didn't always agree with his decisions or policies but as mentioned he can't be blamed for everything that happened. Some people like to turn disagreement into a personal conflict, when different opinions is what makes this country great, it is called Democracy. When the rubber hit the road I would have got behind Bush as our President as I would have for McCain if he had been elected.
I will also get behind our new President, not because I am a Democrat or because of race, but because he is our elected President and we MUST support him or get out.

Great post Dolphin,
I too have been very put-off at how blatant even news people have been about him. The "so-called" celebrities are even worse. I have not figured out how a supposedly brilliant country could possibly blame this economy on one man..... I have always see George as a "real" person with his little flubs and expressions and has not done a bad job, just his second term was so full of CRAP, the american people always want to blame someone else for their hard times.
WAKE UP PEOPLE!
