2012 Lake Cumberland Poker Run (with pics)
Tomorrow is the day. Wonder if they will delay the start any if the rain has not moved out yet. I would sure hate to think they would release them in the rain and then people show up to see the boats going at 1/3 speed because of conditions. I would much rather wait a few hours to see them let loose if that is what it takes.
Who all is down now and who will be down?
I'm planning to be down but my crew is dropping like flies because of the lower temps and rain forecast. Might be one of the smaller turnouts we have seen.
Heck it might just be me on my own the way it is looking. lol So if anyone wants to go out in my shanty boat let me know. lol

Re: 2012 Lake Cumberland Poker Run
If y'all only knew how pissed off we are about GH getting skipped from the poker run card stop....we had a great time with friends, BUT, alot of money was spent to combine BOTH wknds of labor day/poker run at GH and the dam dam area.... those of you who don't have alot of money towards the END of a vacation would probably understand, didn't wanna spend the 60 bucks just to get to Harmon/state dock area and back....whatever, just wish we could've known this was gonna be a possibility....just whining, sorry
Happy camper and happy boater!!

Re: 2012 Lake Cumberland Poker Run
Wow, didn't know this until seeing on LC.com a moment ago. I really really really can't believe they did that even with the late start. At the speeds they travel that would have only been another 30 minutes on the run and a hour more for the other boats as long as Grider put a card boat at the edge of the no wake zone.
Feel bad for all those that missed out.

Maybe one day I will take a larger camera to zoom in as cell phones don't do so well.
Maybe Denmark will share some of his pics. Anyone else got pics to share? Lock?
You may need quicktime on your PC to view vid.

Re: 2012 Lake Cumberland Poker Run
I wonder who in the world made the decision to skip Grider Hill?? And why would someone agree with that?? I know of several hard working families who paid good money for the purpose of watching poker run boats pick up their card at Grider Hill. Rooms rented, slip paid for, boats launched late night to skip the crowds, pontoons rented, family friendly areas chosen, away from Harmon, staying closeby the dam and in Indian Creek, some just spectators from atop the party deck....sorry, still venting....I'm glad everyone who actually got to see the run had a good time and the weather has been awesome since the front went thru. The sunset tonite was amazing!!E_HILLMAN wrote:Wow, didn't know this until seeing on LC.com a moment ago. I really really really can't believe they did that even with the late start. Re: 2012 Lake Cumberland Poker Run (with pics)
In my opinion the party has overtaken the actual Poker Run, don't get me wrong I like the party side as much as anyone but I'm also a serious gearhead so I enjoy the actual hardware. None of the big boats came through Harmon at all on Saturday, and most of them were loaded on the trailer Saturday night.
Something else that kind of bugged me was the mess that everyone left, I got up Sunday morning and did a walk through on State Dock and the place was trashed. That wouldn't sit well with me if I was the guy that threw the party, Jus' Sayin'
All in all a good time, I'll be back next year, and the year after, and the well you get my point................

Re: 2012 Lake Cumberland Poker Run (with pics)
Well for me I watched the run and then hung out with Denmark a lil longer, then chatted with Marine Asssit at JRM and put mine on the trailer and left. For some reason I'm just not drawn to the party anymore. I guess I am at that been there done that, "whatever" point. lol But watching the boats zip down the lake never gets old for me.

I don't take any, what happens at the Poker Run stays at the Poker Run. I did buy 30lbs. of beads and couldn't even find string for the drunk chick walking the docks at 7am Sunday morning. So a good time was had by all.......... see ya'll next year.
