Hey Moontrains, do you all have the cornhole boards or do we need to seek a couple volunteers to bring some?

$pare. I will find you a room. We have and open sofa bed likely... This is going to be wilder than any party SD has had. The cast of characters that are going to show up are going to ensure that this is one that will be talked about for awhile!
Re: 2011 Fall Forum Party Hosted by Grider Hill Marina & Res
Craig, Janis has the sofa sleeper, as of now our boat is full, I have a room for Kelly but there is a possibility that she may not come, I'll ck with her and let you know.Islander_212 wrote:$pare. Jeff and Katie, if a room doesn't open up you can get a lodge room, and just hang out with us on the boat until bedtime.

I'd think a old phart like you could fill a boatel up pretty quick. Either way Don't let it stop you from coming since we really would like to see Katie. LOL

Not going to make it to the forum party! Pappaw bought theatre tickets to see Beauty and the Beast (long before we decided) and they're for a matinee on Sat. Was so looking forward to seeing everyone, but these were too costly to give up... Looks like the summer has gotten away from us again....

LC, you still have a room available... we can't make it after all. If you can't get the room sold, let me know, I'll send a check. I understand it is late in the game and I appreciate your holding it for us. See post above, Jeffie got tickets to the theatre and I admit, I was not thinking of the dates either when I said we were going to make it.... sorry

Copied/Printed some cornhole brackets. Here they are, I would guess most do a single elimination?

Shew, TTT
If facebook is any indication of the attendance for this years party it is going to be a awesome one!
(year I know some have said it does not look like it is going to be much but my guess is because they will not make it themselves... lol)
Hope many FORUM MEMBERS and Grider Slip Customers make it to this Fall Party. Grider's party deck surely will be uh rockin!

Can't wait to see a bunch of you at my home marina. I have some newbies that just bought a run about coming and they rented a boatel. Pourme will be dock beside them if we have room. Hold on it should be a good one!

Miss Swiss, call them at the number in the first post or U2U Moontrains from here or LC.com
Pourme, I too feel this is going to be one heck of a get together. Normally there is not much going on on Friday nights this late in the year but I bet looking at responses there will be several of you all there for the DJ Music. Now for Saturday I think I might need to take some extra vitamins to keep up... lol

I called yesterday and was told 4pm. I was also told they provide sheets for the boatels, I know they dont when they rent the houseboats to take out, so I called and asked.

Since some of you don't go over to the "other site" anymore...
Good time, well organized, good attendance, very welcoming.. Here's a blow by blow account of my experience.
We arrived at the dock about 2:30 Saturday. Immediately we were greeted by a very friendly, salty looking fellow who directed us where to tie and proceeded to assist us dock. As I shut down the blowers and engines I heard the familiar welcome shouts from the party deck from Islander, LC, and others where it was evident the party had started. I asked the dock hand if he was Lakeman but he said "no but I will get him for you". Right away we were greeted by the Lakeman himself, a friendly gentleman who directed us to a set of brand new slips on A dock then told me who to see inside where we had an effortless event signing up and receiving our dock assignment. After a short trip back to view the falls, we backed in to what was going to be our home berth for the night. Upon backing in we again were greeted by some old salts, Pontoon on Steroids and Hubby were on hand to help with the lines. I looked up and low and behold, an old student of mine, Nate from Miss Margarita was there also helping. After a few exchanges about how old we both looked, I realized that no matter how old this old student looked, this old teacher was always going to look older. . After a few we were also greeted by Aqua Diva, who was docked right beside, and Dr. Nautica who had also run down from SD and was visiting some old GHD friends. A friend of POS wanted a tour of Nearly Satisfied so the Mrs. ran down to make sure I didn't have any dirty socks thrown about while I toured topside. This was a fun event because all of us know how much fun it is showing off your boat. One may never know, someone may just find me in a weak moment...
In a short, with the power connected and systems operational I ventured up to the party deck where I was again greeted by LC, Islander, Rockinrod, Gasman, and others. E-Hillman was basically being his typical sour puss so I didn't get over to him for a while.. . The DJ was keeping everyone entertained while the corn hole tournament was proceeding. ( I think the general consensus for next year will not involve a double elimination due to the time constraints.) I did get to see team RockinRod claim their victory.. Good job guys, it looked like the competition was pretty fierce.
E-Hillman and LC were very busy with their chores so I don't know how much they got to enjoy themselves while the bountiful buffet was being set up. I did notice E on one end of a few dock carts loaded with all the yummy home cooked concoctions being carried up the many steps to the party deck. He got his workout Saturday.
The pot luck was excellent.. after spending way too much time in grazing mode, I determined that one dish was as good as the next. I do have to mention how excellent Cousin Ronnie's pasta salad was..( actually he bribed me into saying that )... Then I hit the dessert section..."food coma" set in and I was ready for a nap, but once the band started, a nap was out of the question. I did take a seat beside Gasman to eat and I think I can determine, the plate I borrowed from his table, was much fuller than his... Waterwings, as much as you like to eat, this feast would have even done you in....
The band was really good and their volume was so I could actually sit in front of the speakers. They got a lot of sound out of just one guitar, base, and drums...Good tunes to listen to, fun people to watch, full belly, and cold drink in hand. What else could one ask for.. Oh yea, did I mention E-Hillman was setting to my left and the Mrs. to my right. I guess I can't use the "rose between two thorns" bit unless I want a knuckle sandwich when I get home tonight. I was amazed, E made it for more than two hours this time and as of very late in the evening, he was still hanging in..
The evening was getting late and the Mrs. was starting to surrender to her food coma so she went over to the slip and I wandered around a bit. I turns out there were a few party boatels still lingering but LC and Islander's boat appeared to be unusually quiet. I discovered LC, Cousin Ronnie, and Little LC up in the hot tub..poor Ronnie went up without a towel so I am assuming he just stayed till the sun came back out the next day. After a little visit with the hot tubers, I was concerned I would slip in the ice starting to build around the tub and decided to make my way back to the slip and a nice warm berth. A great end to a fun evening with some good Forum People, good food, and good entertainment.
Sunday was a lazy morning, we slept in so when I emerged from the cabin, I noticed the POS Boatel which was directly off our stern had been vacated and the rest of the dock seemed pretty quiet. I stowed the power cords, the Mrs. First Mate handled the lines and we were off being greeted by a clear blue, sunlight sky as we exited the protection of the covered slip. As we idled out, the only body I saw stirring was Islander and another waving from the Boatel as we idled out of the harbor.
The run home actually wasn't a "run" back to SD at all. I set old Nearly at about 1500 RPM's and enjoyed the 12 mile trip at a slow leisurely pace.( Kind of around 500RPM above what White Nights runs at most of the time.) With the wind at our backs, the whitecaps breaking off each beam, crystal blue ski above, temps climbing into the upper 70's, and just the occasional boat passing..( LC and crew passed off our Port side), I remembered just how nice and relaxing a slow paced day can be. Cruising with the First Mate at the helm, cold beverage in one hand, mostly alone on one of the most beautiful bodies of water on earth, just vegging between the sound of the waves, and the blue sky above. As depressing the end of the season is, I thought back of the last few months and realized just how lucky I was, this time, this place.
I just a couple of weeks, Nearly will be put to bed for her long cold winter's nap. This gathering was a nice nightcap to signal another soon to be ending, wonderful season of good times, and good friends on beautiful Lake Cumberland.
Nite All !
Edit: I just noticed after I typed this that it was Tina that made the pasta salad that Cousin Ronnie claimes... dog !

Great Post Nearly!
But for the record the last few parties I have stayed pretty late. In fact I beat you to the Spring Party. JPatton and I slipped away a little earlier than normal this time around since we were worried about some spooning from Rod... lol
No one said anything about that wonderful crock of "Home made" chili... lol

Re: 2011 Fall Forum Party Hosted by Grider Hill Marina & Res
Excellent post Nearly! Had a great time as usual... That cornhole tournament about did me in... I usually never make it past the first couple of rounds, but this time we made it to the semifinal and if my partner (Assorted Nuts) had a better partner than me he would have won it. We had them fellas (Mac and Dork) beat and I _ crewed the pooch as they say in the next to last throw... Oh well. I was out of my league most ot the night anyhow.
Marginmn, Lori (his wife) and LCA fed us all Friday night. It was great seeing those two again... I see LCA nearly every weekend and she is probably tired of it!
Saturday started off with a boat ride to the dam where myself and Cousin Ronnie, his girlfriend and Gasman's daughter tied up and cranked the stereo up to 11 and let her rip for a few hours and then we got the call to report to the cornhole center for the big match... Did not want to leave the water, as we tied the boats together right in front of the spillway gates and ended up almost to Halcomb's Landing and never had to move the boats.
Hit the dock played about 27 rounds of cornhole, grabbed a bite to eat between throws and then the band played and everyone danced for a few hours. Snuck off to party with some other folks until early in the AM and called it a night!
We stayed until nearly dark Sunday (Thanks to Lakeman, Moontrains and the Crew at GHM) enjoying the sunshine on top of the houseboat and did not want to leave then, but the Mrs. made me... I will need most of this week to try and recover the lost sleep... 5:30 AM bedtime Saturday and around 3:00 AM Sunday I believe... and then up at the crack of dawn to not miss anything...
Oh and for the record... when my pants went down to my ankles they had help and it wasn't me! The lucky thing for me (actually the innocent bystanders) was that I had changed out of my swimming trunks and into my normal short pants and thankfully had on clean undergarments... I think! It was funny I am sure. I got them back up in record time I might add...
For those that missed it you certainly missed an great time. We hope to get a few more weekends with the 200 row at SD as they seem to party into the depths of the off season with LP and Scooter and the whole crew.
What a way to cap off an awesome year at LC again. Can't wait to do it again next year! Thanks too E, J-Pat and LCA as you guys worked your butts off. LCA did triple duty as she was the chef and everything else on out boat both nights. Next time she needs to set that role out and let some of the others (myself included) do more.

Wonder if these are weathering well at Grider.
