today I was banned from sending U2U's. No explanation. I ask a question of all the mods except 1 and received a reply from all but 1. Nest thing I can't send private messages. total BS. Now I can;t post. Squak should at least give me a reason for the U2u banning. I pushed the line in his eyes when I mentioned Obama in the humer thread.Obama is the president and I have an opinion. and as an adult I should have the right to say what I think. nothing was bad. I really don't think that there are any adults over there. 2 more folks left yesterday and more to follow. you would think that they would try to salvage the site instead of running off educated folks. My disclaimer is that this is my opinion only. E had nothing to say about this post yet.he supports .com, just not all the mods. I think they are awesome with the exception of one.

It really saddens me to see this kind of chit even having to be discussed...... I know how you feel, Jefferina. I have had my own problems there on several occassions, have backed off and still been treated with disdain. IMHO, it's not worth it to keep trying to be reasonable with people who are not willing to meet you even a quarter of the way. And the sad part is that there have been so many good people who have simply quit posting because of the BS, What a loss....

I am collecting a bunch of emails showing just how many members from there are very upset with one of the mods. At 100 I will send them to the Davenports. I doubt that they are aware of just how many folks have left, quit posting, or been harrased because they didn't do as this mod thinks is correct. I am guessing about a week at the rate the mail is coming that I can send them. Funny how a couple of the other mods agree with me. The only reason I am this angry is over the the ban of the U2U's. It was in private and nothing dirogatory was said. It is really bad when you can't even ask a question in private. I have made copies of every U2U in the last month. I want everybody to see what I got spanked for. This is wrong. All mods answered me in a professionl manner except for one who. just banned me without even an explination. I plan on posting all of them in the next couple of weeks on Facebook and other places. I don't need that site to survive, I just have a bunch of friends there. Sad news is many more are going to leave. It is amazing that one person can run a great forum in the ground in less than a year.

It seems to me I remember E saying he did not allow posting derogatory remarks about the other website on here. Unfortunately, he is at the lake and probably has not seen this thread.

As for the Davenports, I am quite sure they have more on their minds than the lc.com forum at the moment. They just buried their family member on Thursday, so I am pretty sure they don't need to hear any BS about members leaving and whining about mods. I am pretty sure the owner's illness took them by suprise, because he kept it to himself for over 3 years. I would say there is a period of shock over there that needs to run it's course before you start adding aggrevation to the mix.

With that being said. there are rules over there that have been in place since the beginning that have not changed, with the primary ones being that posts should be appropriate for a sunday school class, not deal with politics or the current war and not be hurtful to other members online. It seems to me that Spare has consistently broken or pushed the envelope on several of these issues and been warned several times in the past and even banned before. How many times do you think you should be allowed a warning before handling of the situation should escalate? Gerry would have cut you off long before now, or at least slapped your hands. Spare, you say you want to have an "adult discussion". Perhaps you idea of an adult discussion is not what fits in the outline of what lc.com is configured for. It is a Lake Cumblerland informational site, not a "jokes" site, not a "down with the government" site. It is for lake related topics, information and news. You have this site and many others for more "adult" discussions you are seeking. You may not like Squak's "delivery" method of the rules, but everybody is different. Had the rules not needed to be enforced due to your posts, you would not be in this situation to begin with.

I am not endorsing how the mods have handled things over there nor am I saying they are wrong or right. I am simply stating what I have seen myself. Squak was put in charge by the owner and how he enforces the rules may not be how you like it, but it is kind like "paly with fire and you might get burned" situation. I am not even saying I like the way he handles things, but it is what it is.

Sorry if I offend, but its just how I feel on the topic.

@MA....I hear what you are saying and can only speak of MY experience. I never had a problem until I posted in the GHD fire thread. I posted info based on my own knowledge of that boathouse and my OPINION (which I stated as my opinion) and in defense of a fellow boater. I did not say anything that was slanderous, libelous, dergoatory, unrelated to the topic. etc. And there were others, with direct knowledge, who posted in agreement. And if my memory serves me correctly, even you had some questions about the whole sitiation and the way it was handled. For whatever reason, it was decided by one mod that I was now a hateful, fault finding, fist in the air waving, raving mad woman! I was called out publicly in a very rude manner and the things said in U2Us were even worse. I did not need the stress, so I backed off and so informed said mod of my decision. I then did not log on for about a month and was shocked to see another nasty message sent that same day in reponse to my backing off. Being human, I reacted with a U2U and a post in a thread that was an agreement post with E. Next thing you know I get another nasty message telling me all my "transgressions" and warning me about my unbecoming behavior! You have got to be chittin' me! So I once again backed off and sent him a truce message and sincerely wished him nothing but the best. Let's just say the response was less than cordial.... FYI.....the relevant posts that I and others made in the GHD fire thread have convenintly been deleted and I can tell you that I did not delete mine. Also, the last 2 threads I posted in have been entirely wiped so there is no longer any evidence of what I did or did not say or was being warned about. I do not like conflict and have been deeply hurt by some of the things said to me and the impressions that have been given about me. It is easy to tell someone to just let it go and I have tried to do that but it just keeps rearing it's ugly head. At some point, one feels the need to defend one's self.

You are right, I did have a LOT of issues regarding the GHD fire and how it was handled, but I tried very hard not to publicly "put it out there" on the forum because I knew it was going to be a hot topic (no pun intended!). I have also talked to Squak about the deal in person. You know, once you print something out there, about a business especially, that may or may not be true it is there for a long time, and if the intent is to affect change in that business by causing monitary harm, it is just a bad deal all the way around without it being substantiated.

Here is the issue. Because the website is owned by a private individual that was hyper sensetive about lawsuits, slander and libel from being in the newspaper business, Squak was given some tight guidelines to use on certain subjects, espepcially when it comes to commercial businesses. The issue was that public statements were being made on the forum about the prior condition of things there at the dock and how the whole situation was handled that no one could truly verify as fact. Because the owner told the mods to be super cautious of what was allowed to be said without "basis", things came around the way they did. There were a lot of emotions involved there.

Now, did Squak handle it correctly? That is up to each person's own interpretation of what went down. He dealt with it in his own manner, right or wrong. I know he was trying to do what was right.... and each person has their own way of doing things. Man if we were all the same things would truly be boring! Some people can smooth talk their way around any subject and others cannot and feel threatened in certain situations. It is just the way it is.

I am sorry you got upset over the ordeal. It's kinda tough because I feel somewhat as if I know you both and I know there really wasn't any harm meant in either direction.

You know, in reality, these are just little lake forums. Its a shame people can get so riled up over some of the stuff. I know for myself, I have to really censor myself when I post. I, unlike most folks out there, actually post under a name that is not annonymis and is business related. I am quite sure if I was posting under an anonymis name, I would have been banned a LONG time ago, LOL. EVERYTHING I write I go over several times and ask myself "now who am I going to piss off with this post" everytime. I have probably deleted more posts prior to hitting the "post" button than I have actually posted. You should see me on TOPIX though LMFAO!! Don. you have your opinion. I respect that. Yes you are correct. I do push a little. I can say this. non of my post were made up. They were on the news ( Fox and Friends) I am not angry about any of what was in the public. I am pi$$ed about my U2U's and him taking away my privlige to send a message. I ask all mods a question except for him. All answered in a professional manor. The next thing is I try to send a PM and it says I can't. No reason. as I said all but him answered. I will be happy to send you a copy. I always keep a record of most post and U2U's. As for C-line, we had our ups and downs but he was always a gentelman to me. Most people have no idea how much we did communicate. He would ask me to delet something and I would, sometimes I would send him something that I wanted to post and he would say yes or no. Don have Barb show you comments made in U2U to her. As I said I am collecting a lot of info. I am truly sorry for the Davenports. I also have cancer and I hate it. But so many folks are angry at the way members are being treated. Don you know most everybody, ask them what thier opinion is. I am guessing that I have been banned over there, but I will survive. This is a wonderful site and E is a very fair person.

Ray, How would you know what is going on.You have had two post in 7 months. I guess if you consider opec, gas prices, the big HWY sale to be about the lake then yes everything that is posted is only lake stuff. My complaint is it is a one sided treatment and I for one love the lake, but can't seem to find that many new things to report. I truly doubt that you have ever seen any bashing of the other site until this past week. But I guess you would not know with all the posting you have done. Wow, A lot was going on at the Lake while I was down this weekend,

...it appears a LOT was happening here and on the internet while I was gone as well.

1) $pare you know better and know that I cannot allow posts like this about LC.com or its members. So I am locking this thread and expect us to try and remain civil about the issue.
2) I am trying real hard to not have an opinion here. I agree with 99% of what Don has said but I have to admit what happened to $pare does seem kinda odd. ..and I am still having an issue with what happened to RE3 especially after she swallowed her pride and offered a truce and got it thrown in her face.

Soooo much to say about your post. $pare has been around a while and he gets a freebie for trippin up every now and then. I think even those at Lc.com can understand that and know I have worked my butt off to keep this site friendly with any other lake site. Here is a thought... Let’s try some facts...
Pasted below are all the threads from the last month. There are 84 threads that were active. Of them there is 1 by $pare below that happened while I was out of town and could not help. There is 1 that if you read into it enough by Islander that might would seem it was making fun of somewhere else but it was just him messing with us. And another by RE3 making fun of us but could also be read in to too much if someone thought somewhere else had that reputation. And then one by Faster that was done just because people say we have it too easy over here. Which most of the time we do. I take your post VERY seriously Ray since I have had to ban members I did not want to ban because they spoke the truth however it was truth that we cannot allow. Sure I still gave at least one of them 2 years to stop it and I in the meantime made sure none of it was there out of respect to LC.com. You have us pegged all wrong every one of us on this site were/are lovers of LC.com and we love it for getting us all together. Sure there have been issues here and there. That is the nature when there are that number of people gathering together especially online and not face to face. The things you see here are not issues from or because of this site but are spillover to this site from issues from another site. No one went looking for trouble.

There are over 1,000 active threads over the last year and you will STILL only find those threads I mentioned above... and the ONLY 1 of them (which was done WHILE I WAS ON THE LAKE) is the one that really goes against the rules. Even if I missed two or three others in a years time and over 1000 threads and 1000s more posts I think we are doing pretty good. How many anti LC.com threads and posts has LC.com itself had in that same amount of time? I think people on this forum have shown great restraint and have made pretty sure that this forum followed those guidelines I set in the thread I linked for you above. Right now it seems to me that you are trolling and meddling. But I hope I am wrong and that was just your opinion of you being uninformed from not visiting this site enough since you joined.

The only dig that could really be said about this forum would be if you said.
It seems that there would not be much going on here, if it were not for foolish jokes, and discussions about politics etc.

But that is not what you said and I have proven with statistics that YOUR statement was in fact untruthful and false. We welcomed you with open arms and were happy to do so. Why be this way now?

Now let’s all get back to being foolish and talking about stuff that you just can't necessarily talk about elsewhere.
