"They don't have to end. I really hate seeing the forum raftups fall to the wayside just because some choose to go to harmon every weekend and won't come out for a little while."
Yo Hillman, if you would like to organize a forum raft-up, show up, and stay the night with us, I'm sure many will attend. Including myself. Otherwise, LET IT GO!!! Those of us who hang in Harmon every weekend wouldn't mind skipping one, so long as it's not a holiday or Poker Run.

I posted and asked if all forums were invited or just .com. I would hope there will be no smart arss remarks from a few trouble makers.

Invited to what? I don't think they were trying to plan a raft up in that thread so I'm not sure what you mean.Spare Change wrote:I posted and asked if all forums were invited or just .com. I would hope there will be no smart arss remarks from a few trouble makers.

___ we have tried (a couple years ago) and it all fell through. The problem is most of the people I want to see are in Harmon and at least back then they would not come out and gave me a real going over about having to pull their anchors etc. (do you remember that?) Its not like all of the members are comfortable going to harmon (nothing against those that go) but it is just easier to take a wild woman to church than it is to take a kid to a strip club.
I may not stay the entire time but I get to stay longer when the setting is a little less wild. My wife defineitly does not like the harmon scene and tolerates me going as she is not controlling but it is easier to go to a more neutral setting for everyone. And I totally agree about not on Poker Run but certain holidays would need to be the date since some people on the forums (not you and I) only make it on holidays. Heck I am even for having it earlier in the day so some could leave to catch the evening activities elsewhere. In fact that is what we used to do sometimes. We would have some pull out about 4 or so and head to 76 Falls. I made it to EVERY Forum Raftup that we had since I joined Lake Cumberland.com. SOmetimes I stayed 1 hour and there were times I stayed 5 hours Now the forum parties on the docks I have missed a couple of those, stayed for a while at a few and some just stopped by for an hour and left. This spring I did stay longer than I planned... lol
What was wrong with back then when we had one Memorial Day to kick off the summer and one Labor Day? It worked then, why not now? I'll tell you why, refer to my post and your reply...

Re: Forum raft-ups
Of course I remember that. I was part of the crowd giving you crap.
If you start planning early, and stay on top of it, it could be a success. Even on Memorial or Labor Day weekends(not July4th or Poker Run). My point is that it doesn't make sense for you to gripe about those of us who don't like to uproot from Harmon to make a small, short lived raft up, then only stay for an hr yourself. Back in the day our forum raft-ups started Friday night and broke up sometime Sunday afternoon. That's the way to do it my friend. Not these little 5hr gatherings you talk about.
You quoted me on the squak.com forum? Dude....
