GAHANNA, Ohio -- Gahanna, Ohio police say they were trying to figure out if 39-year-old Dale Bentley was drunk.

That's when he decided to do something they've never seen before, dancing his way through the field sobriety test.

“In my years in law enforcement, I've learned to never say I've seen everything because just when I say that, I see something I've never seen before," Sgt. Ethan Moffitt said. "And Mr. Bentley is case and point to that.”

Gahanna police say Bentley initially got their attention when he was driving 15 miles above the speed limit.

They tried to pull him over but they said Bentley kept going.

When Bentley did stop, authorities said he appeared confused.

As officers tried to confirm if Bentley was intoxicated, they said he decided to start dancing.

"We know that when people -- especially when they are intoxicated -- they're unpredictable," Moffitt said. "Our concern is that he could fall over, hurt himself, fall out in traffic.”

As officers tried to finish their test, Bentley continued dancing.

“Woo. Woo woo. Right there. You,” Bentley exclaimed while gyrating and pointing at the police officer’s dashboard camera.

Officers then arrested him.

In the days following the accident, Bentley had little to say.

When asked if he remembered dancing, Bentley simply laughed, “No.”

Police said Bentley's blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit at the time of his arrest.

He's facing several charges including drunk driving, fleeing from officers and speeding.

On Thursday, he pleaded not guilty to operating a vehicle under the influence.
