Subject: [Bridgeport] Warning - Golf Carts Stopped by Police
Yes this is true! One day last week they had 17 golf carts stopped all at once. They stopped 35 one day and 30 the next day. Sumter County claims they are doing it because of an increase in golf cart accidents from speeding, I think they are doing it because they found a new source of income. The Streetrod store has 12 people that got tickets and are having to adjust the speed down on these carts and fill out a certification that they do not exceed 20 mph.
They have also set up on Bailey Trail. They can issue these tickets if you are on any road that shares a golf cart right of way. This means watch out for them on Oak Forest, Southern Trace, Pharr Drive, Woodridge, Belvedere, the roads that go to Wal-Mart, and anywhere you are on a public road. They have NO jurisdiction on the separate paved cart paths however.
WATCH YOUR SPEED AND DO NOT DONATE TO THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT! 20 MPH IS THE MAX!!!!
(Someone was also told [by a police officer] on Azteca, the cut through [hole-in-the-wall], if you do not stop at each stop sign and are caught, the fine is $264. So please be very careful.)
