KYCanuck, just wondering, how long have you been in the U.S. and were you aware of our "politics" when you lived in Canada? Actually I have always had many questions for all non-u.s. citizens, just wondering how you came to the decision that your choice was your chosen preference? Did up-bringing have anything to do with it, etc. etc. (just curious - you don't even need to respond if you don't want to, just don't know anyone to ask this question personally).

We have been living in the US since March 2001, but I have been working here since 1996 Full time. (Travelled back and forth!) Even before coming here we were VERY aware of US politics, it's hard not to, being the little place (Population wise) next door. Since Canada's population is only about 10% of the US (with much more land mass) the Canadian economy is very much in lock step with the US economy. What happens here in the US usually affects Canada within a 6 month time period.
I think everyone's up bringing has something to do with their choices but as we grow older we learn more and decide if we want to continue down that path. The prominent parties in Canada (There are about 5) are the Liberals and the Conservatives (Nothing like getting to the point with the names! :)) ) and me and my wife have always been on the liberal side of the fence. I just feel that the Liberals have done a better job of running the country while in power historically but like here, that is a matter of personal opinion. The Democrates are more towards what we are used to with the Liberal Party in Canada and have many of the same platforms, however the issues are MUCH different and don't always relate to one another.

Canada is a MUCH more Liberal country in the litteral sense of the word regardless of the parties so we have a slightly different outlook on things. One example is Dry Counties, that is such an obscure idea that I would bet that a lot of misinformed Canadians would laugh and think it was a joke. Honestly even at our age we still have a hard time grasping at something like that, it's like something out of the Dark ages for us!

You can ask me anything you like, I am not shy! :D

The poll is flawed, LOL, There was 5 candidates and other on the Ballot. I honestly voted for other.

No way could I vote for McCain (and I so badly wanted to) with Palin on his ticket.

I couldn't bring my self to vote for my fellow Democrat either simply because of his inexpereince, but I am hopeful him and his cabinet he will create will bring many great changes to this economy.

Anybody guess who I wrote in????

As for the experience issue, I am kind of thinking that he hasn't been there long enough to be soiled by the normal process that we all agree is so bad. Maybe the inexperience can be a positive? After all if he has been in the Senate for 20 years we would have said he is corrupted. It's a no win situation.

Well I had to vote one way or another, other wise I couldn't b!tch about how thing were. McCain just showed in public that his party managed him most of the time instead of him managing his party. To me that is what a president is, they provide direction and send their minions off to do their dirty work not the other way around. At least Obama played it off as he new what his party was doing (H3ll they went everywhere he wanted them to in force and did his dirty work).

I voted for the best and most qualified candidate of course. (Not that I considered either candidate to be a great choice, just picked the best of the two choices we were given). It's just too bad he didn't win.
