Ok, I've got windows 8 on this crazy laptop and cannot even see a link to the videos, is this my problem? I have run into this at other sites trying to watch vids.... I miss my 7!

I have 7 and have the same problem I think. Can't see the video while it's playing, but do have the audio part of it. Only seems to happen on this site though. I'll go back and post links to the video's in the same posts with them so you (hopefully) can click them and watch directly from Youtube's site.

Figured out what my problem was by reading "Help" on the bottom of the page on YouTube. It said I needed to update my graphics card driver. Some Greek mumbo-jumbo about a new way a lot of sites are using your video hardware to reduce the load on the CPU or sumpin like that.
I can hear audio but can't see the video (black box, weird scroll bar, etc.)
If you can hear audio but can’t see video on the Watch page, this may indicate complications in how your computer handles hardware accelerated video. Hardware accelerated playback (also known as Stage Video) is a feature of the latest version of Adobe Flash that harnesses your computer’s video hardware to reduce the load on the CPU, delivering smoother video playback with fewer dropped frames, particularly at higher resolutions. A small percentage of YouTube users, however, have reported problems with video playback since this feature rolled out. These are some possible symptoms:
•The video player is replaced by a black or white box
•Colors are splotchy
•There’s a green line splitting the player in two
•The seek/navigation bar is missing or displaying incorrectly
•The video stops playing when you change the resolution
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How do I get back to watching videos?
We recommend updating your graphics driver. This may correct the symptoms listed above while allowing you to enjoy the benefits of hardware accelerated playback. Click here to find out how to update your driver.
If this doesn't work, or you'd like to get back to watching videos right away, click here for instructions on how to disable hardware accelerated playback.
Anyway, I tried it and it worked for me. Pretty simple to do and only took a few minutes to download and install. Here's a link to the YouTube page that walked me thru the process.
