Elderly Man Dies In Lawn Tractor Accident

A 70-year-old Wayne County man was killed Tuesday night in a lawn tractor accident.
At approximately 6:50 p.m. Tuesday evening the Wayne County Coroner's Office was dispatched to the scene of a lawn tractor accident in the Hickory Point community on the banks of Lake Cumberland. Deputy Coroners Anthony Vaughn and Gordon Hicks responded to the call and death was pronounced shortly thereafter.
John Maggard, a resident of Hickory Point, and a native of Ohio, was operating his lawn tractor when he lost control of the machine and fell from a bluff on the edge of his property overlooking the lake.
The exact cause of the accident is unclear and is currently still under investigation.
Other agencies involved were the Wayne County EMS, and the Wayne County Rescue Squad.
