2011 Lake Cumberland Polar Bear Plunge

Sorry for the delay about all of this. It truly isn't a matter of procrastination but rather just busier than a one legged man.....well nevermind. ;)

Anyway! The NEW and IMPROVED Plunge website is up and running and WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!! We have come soooooooooo close the last couple of year's of finally breaking that century mark of participants and to do it we need a massive "reunion tour" of LakeCumberland.Com jumpers along with some "new blood". Also REMEMBER!!! For those that don't care to jump YOU DON'T HAVE TO anymore. You can simply choose to be a "Chicken"! =)) Your still on the team and your fundraising efforts will still be recognized. The only difference is instead of getting an "official" t-shirt you will get one with a chicken on it. The link to join team LakeCumberland.Com is

http://soky.kintera.org/faf/search/sear ... &lis=0&knt...

Lees Ford is once again our host site and they have discounted cabin packages available. We are working hard to improve things from year to year and are excited about this years event! We are going to be jumping in the same location but this year we are going with a "carnival" type theme. Crown Rental and Sales (yes that is a plug) has graciously donated a very very large outdoor tent along with tables, chair, heaters etc. We have secured a stage and sound equipment. And well long story short we're gonna make a day of it! B-)

The official Plunge will once again kick off with registration from 9-11 am

Opening Ceremony and costume contest will begin @ 11am

First plungers will hit the water beginning @ 11:30

Post Plunge awards ceremony will be under the big top beginning immediately after the plunge.

We will have multiple bands performing throughout the rest of the afternoon for your listening pleasure and then heading up to the Harbor Restaraunt and Tavern to being the "official" unofficial post plunge bash(headlining band yet to be determined). THERE WILL BE NO COVER CHARGE this year!!!

There is still a lot of work going on preparing what all is going to take place so stay tuned....We're gonna rock this Lake in Feb!!!! B-) B-) B-) B-)

OK GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE BEEN SEVERELY DISTRACTED AND SIDE TRACKED BY WORK FOR LONG ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!! Our team LOOKS LIKE CRAP!!!!!!!!! Some of it is understandable as some have ventured out to form their own teams or joined teams with their kids. BUT THAT DOESN'T mean there aren't some of you that just hasn't signed up or donated yet!!!!!!!!

WE ARE T-17 DAYS and a wake-up!!!!

WE HAVE GOT to get these team LakeCumberland.Com #'s looking better both in numbers and dollars raised!

On a more positive note for all those that have worked so hard for so many years on this plunge........knock on wood but we are gonna break the century mark this year!!!!! :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

As of 9am this morning we already have 105 people signed up online and have over 18k already turned in. Both numbers ARE WAYYYYyyyyy above ANY mark that we have had this stage of the game. :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

That doesn't mean we are finished yet though!!!!!! So stop procrastinating and get signed up or donate today! B-) B-) B-)

Since Rodney DID keep his pants on, I did send some $ his way. The lc.com participation is pathetic. Seems like folks have gotten their panties in a wad and walked away from the kids! :( :(

Thanks EVERYONE for again supporting such a great cause and TY quickiemonster for keeping it on everyone's mind. Been a rough year and am running on empty but we'll get there. 2 more days and it'll be all down hill from there!

STILL though there is plenty of time to still either donate or preferably sign up and jump. I am almost positive (fingers crossed) that we'll finally break that 100 jumper mark this year and may sniff a record dollar amount for the plunge. BUT to get there we need your help. Last I checked we already had over 140 people signed up online and over 25k raised! Both highs for this plunge period!

Total is well over $45k now with some late checks still coming in.

Huge thanks to all of our sponsors, donors, and participants. I had one gentleman give me a run for money for the King honors and Shawn and the Thoroughbred Houseboat team put up some very respectable numbers again but this year the Maker's Mark team Bardstown BrrrBuns took most of the team awards raising over 5k dollars and having a pretty sizeable team as well.

Was quite a few larger teams missing from years past that couldn't participate in their normal capacity but promised to be back next year. Just that much more of a challenge next year to break more records and continue this plunges ongoing growing success into year #9.

And thanks to all that stopped by. All in all I had a GREAT time......from what I have been told anyway! Was good to see Mr. Pontoon on Steroids though. :D :D :D
